The local content register, not a private vendor list
How the government Local Content Register differs from a commercial supplier portal.
What the official sources say
The statutory register is run by the Local Content Secretariat. On 22 September 2026 the Ministry of Natural Resources said the portal moved from lcregister.petroleum.gov.gy to https://localcontent.gov.gy. Existing accounts, applications, and certificates stayed valid. People were told they did not have to reapply only because the address changed.
The Ministry's September 2026 notice described processing windows for the new portal: 5 working days for a new sole-proprietor application and 3 for a renewal, 15 and 10 working days for a 100 percent Guyanese-owned company, and 21 and 15 working days for other companies. Those are the Ministry's stated portal timers, not a promise that every file finishes on time, and not a PetroMetric service level.
Checklist
- Use https://localcontent.gov.gy for the government portal.
- Keep the certificate number, issue date, and renewal reminder with the supplier file.
- Record ownership or directorship changes in the portal, as the Ministry's notice describes.
- Do not treat a commercial prequalification questionnaire as the statutory certificate.
- If the certificate is missing, the evidence status is missing. It is not a pass.
Questions people ask
What is the official local content register address?
The Ministry of Natural Resources said on 22 September 2026 that the portal address is https://localcontent.gov.gy. The earlier address was lcregister.petroleum.gov.gy.
Is a Centre Hub profile the same as a local content certificate?
No. The Centre for Local Business Development runs a commercial business index. The certificate is issued through the Secretariat's portal. Keep both records if you use both, and do not merge them.
Does registration mean a company meets the First Schedule?
No. Registration and a certificate are not the half-yearly performance report, and they are not proof that every schedule target was met.
