Petroleum Activities Act 17 of 2023

The Petroleum Activities Act replaced the 1986 exploration and production framework. It is in force from 1 September 2023 under the official commencement order. Existing agreements have saving and transitional rules that have to be read with the Act. Section 84 states minimum fines, not maximums.
Applies to. Operators and licensees, and relevant pipeline, storage and carbon dioxide activities.
Verification. In force from 1 September 2023. Current amendments still need legal sign-off before this row is treated as a complete statement.
